APOLLO 5th Consortium Meeting: Advancing Circular PV in Berlin

The 5th Consortium Meeting of the APOLLO project, marking the start of the project’s third year, took place on 14–15 January 2026 in Berlin. The meeting was hosted by Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP, APOLLO’s project coordinator, and co-organised by project partner Minespider.

The hybrid meeting brought together 35 participants from APOLLO partner organisations, with 20 partners attending on-site. This format enabled broad participation while supporting in-depth technical and strategic discussions. The meeting served as an important milestone, presenting the roadmap for the project's final year and enabling partners to reflect on both achievements and remaining challenges.

Key discussions and outcomes

Across the two days, partners reviewed progress across all work packages and aligned on the next implementation steps. Key topics addressed during the meeting included:

  • Digital traceability, including the use of Digital Product Passports to support circular PV value chains and enable transparent data exchange

  • High-purity material recovery, focusing on advanced recycling and sonification-based approaches for reclaiming silicon suitable for new PV applications

  • Eco-design strategies, including the development of PV module concepts designed for improved disassembly and end-of-life handling

  • Consortium alignment and decision-making, including voting on upcoming project activities and priorities

In addition to technical sessions, the meeting also provided valuable space for informal exchange, including a joint consortium dinner and a tour de Berlin, further strengthening collaboration within the consortium.

Overall, the 5th Consortium Meeting confirmed strong progress across the project and reinforced a shared vision for advancing circular, traceable, and sustainable photovoltaic systems in Europe.
