APOLLO Project Highlighted at Intersolar Europe 2025

Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics (CSP) proudly represented the APOLLO project at Intersolar Europe 2025, the leading exhibition for the solar industry, held in Munich, Germany, on May 6-7, 2025

Fraunhofer CSP engaged with industry professionals, researchers, and stakeholders, sharing the project’s vision of accelerating innovation in solar cell technology. APOLLO aims to make solar energy more accessible by reducing production costs, improving efficiency, and enhancing sustainability in the photovoltaic sector.

Roland Kunert, the project coordinator, was present to highlight the importance of collaboration and applied research in reaching Europe’s climate and energy goals. Visitors to the booth had the opportunity to explore the latest developments in high-performance solar cells and learn how APOLLO is contributing to a cleaner energy future.

A major highlight was the expert-led FAQ session titled “TOPCon or FlopCon? – How Reliable is the Cell Technology?”, held on May 7. Presented by Prof. Ralph Gottschalg and Dr. Bengt Jäckel, the session explored the reliability and commercial viability of TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology—an emerging solution in next-generation solar cells.

Fraunhofer CSP’s presence at Intersolar Europe 2025 helped bring visibility to the APOLLO project and emphasized the importance of innovation, reliability, and sustainability in driving the solar industry forward.
